When Your Home Practice Feels Difficult
So how do you make showing up for your home practice easier when it feels really difficult, particularly as we head into winter here in Melbourne where it is feeling dark and cold, and inspiration and motivation for home practice feels elusive!
The solution is simple.
Find ways to make it easier for yourself to show up.
Find ways that support you and your home practice.
For me, having warm clothes and socks, or a blanket, next to my bed takes the edge off the cold as I roll out of my bed and into my home practice space.
Make sure your home practice space is set up with everything you need so you are good to go the moment you step onto your mat or sit on your cushion.
As you lie in bed contemplating whether you are going to get up (or not!), hold your heart and whisper words of love and encouragement to yourself, remind yourself how inspired and energised you feel when you take time for your practice, remember how you navigate your day so much more skilfully when you do your practice, and offer yourself heartfelt gratitude every time you show up for your practice.
Remember you are not alone on this home practice path. I am on my cushion every morning thinking of you, and so are many others in this home practice community.
There are a number of online and in-person services and resources you can access to make your home practice journey just a little easier, so take a look around the Simple Sacred Everyday website for the links to everything you need to create a sustainable and meaningful home practice.
Easy does it my friend, and with love,
Sharon
