‘In the light, our memories are washed away, and we forget everything we knew. We forget who we are. It is in the darkness that we know the world. It is in the darkness that we know where we came from. The darkness remembers us, then we remember who we are.’
~ Monica Gagliano, Thus Spoke the Plant
As we move into the darker, colder months of the year, nature makes her transition into her resting season: quiet, withdrawn, moving deep into the earth, returning back to her roots.
We are nature too, and we can look to the Earth’s turning to guide us in laying down of our tools, releasing the fruits of our labours, and returning to the ground of ourselves for deep nourishment and remembrance.
Taking inspiration from the quietude of the Winter season, this beautifully nourishing afternoon in-studio immersion with Sharon will guide you through gentle movement, breathwork, mantra and supporting practices.
The practice will help you release feelings of tension, resistance, overwhelm and exhaustion, and support you in remembering the wisdom of who you really are, which is mirrored in the stillness and depth of this season.
Together we will explore:
The insights and wisdom held within nature and the Winter season, and how the inward focussed energy of this season can help us remember who we really are beyond the beliefs, expectations, and narratives of our ‘busy’ oriented society;
Soothing pranayama (breath practices) to allow the dust to settle from your everyday life;
A gentle flowing asana (yoga posture), somatic movement and energy balancing practice to allow you connect more meaningfully with your body and ‘inner life’;
A beautifully healing mantra practice to ‘sonically’ massage your physical and meta-physical bodies; and
A deeply relaxing Yoga Nidra practice journeying through the energetic sheaths of the body to a place of spaciousness and remembrance of the true you.
The afternoon will close with a conversation around our shared experiences of the practice, and how we can bring more of this quality of presence, deep knowing and wisdom into our every day.
This immersion is limited to 10 participants and is open to anyone interested in moving through the Winter season feeling more rested, present, and connected to their inner knowing.
Practice modifications will be offered throughout the afternoon to accomodate varying levels of experience and ability.
Chai, herbal teas and light refreshments will be available.
