In out-of-the-way places of the heart, where your thoughts never think to wander, this beginning has been quietly forming, waiting until you were ready to emerge.

Taking inspiration from the Spring Equinox, which marks the transition from winter darkness to the lightness of Spring, this retreat will give us a precious opportunity to come together and tune into the fresh, creative energy of Spring as we re-emerge from the depths of the colder months.

Our home for the weekend will be in the pristine rainforest of the Yarra Valley, in an architecturally designed ‘treehouse’ with panoramic views across the valley. You will relax in complete comfort with the generous facilities, including spacious, climate-controlled bedrooms with quality linen, relaxed living areas, cosy fireplaces, a dedicated yoga and meditation room with gorgeous views, quiet nooks and hidden balconies where you can daydream, read or journal.

The property is in a secluded location in the ancient forest with many walking paths, gardens, abundant wildlife, and a gorgeous natural spring. The only sounds you will hear will be those of nature.

Expect to fill your cup with uplifting yoga and meditation practices, meaningful seasonal rituals, quiet walks in nature, inspiring conversation with like-minded souls, stories by the fire, home cooked meals made with seasonal produce (and lots of love!), and plenty of personal time for rest and contemplation.

YOUR HOSTS

Sharon Spencer

Sharon is a mother, yoga and meditation teacher, mantra lover, writer, and passionate home practice advocate.

For over 10 years, Sharon has shared her passion for yoga and meditation with students of all ages and walks of life, in a range of studio, corporate and educational settings. More recently, Sharon has begun sharing her teaching online, where she has an amazing ability to make students feel as though Sharon is right there with them in their home practice space.

Sharon has a natural ability to engage with students, whether they are at home or in the studio, with sensitivity and skill, weaving ancient wisdom with modern insight through healthy yoga and somatic movement, breath practices, meditation, mantra and accessible philosophy in a relevant and practical way.

Through her dedicated daily home practice, Sharon has tapped into an inner source of understanding and wisdom that has helped her access a deeper sense of who she is and what she has to share in this life. Her practice has been an enormous support to her as she has navigated the complexities of life and she now wants to share what she has learnt from her time on the mat by equipping others with the tools and strategies they need to cultivate a sense of joy and calm in their every day.

Karen Jane

Karen is a mother, home cook, pastry chef, permaculturalist, floral artist, homesteader, Steiner method teacher and yogini.

Karen spends her week days teaching a “spade to blade” program at the local Steiner School, where students learn a true understanding of growing their own food that they plant, nurture, harvest and then cook for their respective class members and teacher.

For Karen ‘home is where the heart is’. Her weekends are spent on her regenerative farm she shares with her musician partner in north-east Victoria, Orana Farm, where she lives a simple and meaningful life tending her vegetable garden, foraging local foods, baking wood-fired sourdough bread, cooking delicious sweet treats, and looking after her beloved menagerie of farm animals including Buttercup the cow, William the rooster and his harem of Isa Browns hens, Rebsy the cattle dog and Pippin the wonder dog!

Karen has a natural creative flair when it comes to food, and always cooks with love. She cannot wait to share her home-cooked meals made from seasonal and local produce with you.

Did you know Karen and Sharon have been the best of friends since their younger dancing days many years ago in the suburb of Boronia, at the foothills of the Dandenongs! To come together and collaborate on this retreat feels like such a natural thing to do. Bringing their wealth of knowledge, vast array of skills and many life experiences to the weekend, they cannot wait to share this special time with you.
