Self Assured and Steady:
A Meditation

ACCESS MY NEW INSIGHT TIMER MEDITATION HERE

I have noticed a few of my nearest and dearest struggling a little mentally and emotionally of late. I am not sure whether it is a hangover from an enormously challenging 2020 or having to adjust to a new COVID normal or attempting to be ‘COVID fine’, but there definitely is an energy around us at the moment that is pushing our buttons.

It is getting us uncomfortable, asking us to really dig deep and give attention to what we have been brushing aside or pushing away ... waking us up to what change is needed in our life to allow us to move towards a sense of self that is content, peaceful and steady ... and having done the hard yards through truckloads of personal 'stuff', I know that this is NOT an easy task!

The inner exploration that I undertake each day through my home practice has gradually revealed to me the various layers of stories, conditioning, and beliefs that have accumulated throughout my lifetime (or lifetimes!) that have kept me trapped in often unhelpful behaviours and responses, inevitably resulting in me feeling lonely, resentful, frustrated, anxious, exhausted and overwhelmed.

By acknowledging and working through these layers with patience, love and tenderness, I have found a deep, quiet place within me that resides beneath the noise and static of my mind and the external world.

I have found that it is here that I can touch into who I really am.

It is here I truly feel supported and loved.

It is here I realise that I can give myself everything I need, and seeking it outside of myself only results in heartache and disappointment.

It is here I realise that it is my own heart that is calling me home.

That my heart holds everything I need.

That my heart only wants me to be with me.

But accessing this inner resource takes time, dedication, discipline and compassion. It requires us to be willing to continue to show up for ourselves again ... and again ... and again, ... even when it gets really, really confronting and hard.

But I promise you with all my heart, it is worth it.

The tears, the discomfort, the despair, the turmoil are all leading you forward. They are breaking down old ways and guiding you towards this resource within you that you can wholeheartedly rely on. You will not find a more reliable and steady wellspring of support than this inner resource.

So it is from these contemplations that I have created my latest meditation on Insight Timer, 'Self-assured and Steady: Access Your Inner Resource.'

This meditation is, of course, only a starting point for you but hopefully it may spark your interest in beginning a lifelong dialogue with your inner life, leading you to a sense of you that is self-assured and steady.

Hold your heart my friend: all it wants is to be with you 💓

With love
