Let Yourself 'Be': Cultivating Balance in your Everyday

TAKE A SEAT MY FRIEND, IT’S TIME TO GET QUIET.

Feel your feet on the ground, connecting you to the earth and tune into her qualities of steadiness and safety.  Allow the noise and static that surrounds you to begin to fall away. Notice your breath in your body and allow it to move slow and deep.  Let your body soften as we explore life from another vantage point.

I know so much of your day revolves around doing, achieving, anticipating, planning, preparing, organising, and accomplishing as a measure of your worth and contribution to society. Sometimes these activities keep you distracted, busy, and fatigued as you try to keep up with the narratives that are conditioned into so many of us. This pace of life is not sustainable and it keeps you feeling heavy, rigid and tense as you try to control all the moving parts to keep the show on the road.

“Let your body soften as we explore life from another vantage point.”

What would it be like, just for today, if you let go of the incessant busyness and thinking and skipped lightly off the beaten path?  Taking time in your day today to listen. To give yourself space to acknowledge who you are and what you do.  To appreciate, to embrace, to align, to hold, to love, to be.  Wouldn’t that be of more benefit to you and your loved ones today? Bringing yourself into alignment with the moment, just as it is, to cultivate a deeper sense of devotion and reverence to the life around you? Recognising that this presence and listening attention will make the biggest difference to your local and global communities today and everyday?

So take the day off, my friend. Release yourself from the stories around the should’s and should be’s.  Explore what life is like when you take the time to realign yourself again with what is really important, knowing that life wants to lead you on the path to your greatest joy, to your clearest self.

“To appreciate, to embrace, to align, to hold,
to love, to be.”

To support this practice of ‘being’ a little more in your day, I have created some special resources that you can weave into your own home practice.

The first resource is a 25 minute deeply nourishing Restorative Yoga practice. Restorative Yoga is a wonderful practice that you can use whenever you are feeling stressed, weak or tired.  Restorative Yoga uses props to support the body so it can deeply rest and allow the body and mind to move back towards balance. An excellent practice in remembering how to ‘be’.

Access the 25 min Restorative Yoga practice here.

I have also created a ‘Deep Rest’ 20 minute meditation which focusses on relaxing the physical, mental and psychological bodies using breath visualisation.

Access the ‘Deep Rest’ meditation here

Finally, I have also created a Spotify playlist of some of my favourite ‘quiet’ musical pieces that you can play during your practice or when you simply feel you need to drop things down a notch or two.

Access the ‘Quiet & Stillness’ Spotify playlist here

Please get in touch if you have any comments or questions about this journal post or anything to do with your home practice. I really would love to hear from you and how I can best support you along this path.

Take care dear human ‘being’.

With love,

Sharon
