RECONNECT WITH YOUR NATURAL RHYTHM THIS WINTER SEASON.
IT’S TIME FOR REST, REPLENISHMENT & CONTEMPLATION.

INSPIRE YOUR HOME WINTER PRACTICE WITH VIDEO PRACTICES CREATED BY SHARON JUST FOR YOU!

The days are getting shorter, the sun is moving lower in the sky, the nights are getting colder, all the signs that we are moving deeper into this yin time of year, Winter.  This is nature’s resting season, time for withdrawal, a sense of relaxing deep into the earth, getting back to our roots, and creating space for contemplation and replenishment.  We take time out in the Winter season so we can re-emerge in the Spring feeling refreshed, recharged, full of inspiration and open to possibility.

Our home practice gives us a wonderful vehicle to keep us in synch with the changing seasons and their associated qualities. Connecting with these natural seasonal rhythms is integral to our wellbeing and helps us enjoy a greater sense of flow and ease as we move through our days.  In the ancient yogic language of Sanskrit, this natural rhythm is known as ‘ritam’ – the natural rhythm or flow of life.  This natural rhythm governs the transition of the seasons, the movement of the sun in the sky, the cycles of the moon, the ebb and flow of the tides. It is the very same rhythm that governs the movement of the breath in the body, the beat of the heart, hormonal cycles, cellular respiration for the essential processes of life.

‘Mother Nature speaks in a language understood in the peaceful mind of the sincere observer.’
Radhanath Swami

By acknowledging this natural flow and order to life and understanding that it is a force beyond our control, we realise that daily harmony and balance can be found when we surrender ourselves to this flow.

Our home practice can help us relax into these natural rhythms by connecting more intimately with our inner life through stillness and quiet, and using tools and practices that support the body and mind to cultivate optimal health and wellbeing through the changing seasons of life.

‘Our home practice can help us relax into these natural rhythms by connecting more intimately with our inner life...’

To support your body, mind and spirit this Winter, I have a couple of video companions to this blog that I think will be a wonderful support for your home practice:

OM RITAM: A meditation using breath and mantra to help you connect to the natural rhythm of life

WINTER YIN YOGA PRACTICE: A short yin yoga practice targeting the kidneys and bladder, the organs of the winter season.
